One of the things that makes me really happy about living in Colorado is the variety of healthy choices one can make. For the past month I’ve been enjoying a membership to a local yoga studio, and now that my trial membership is up I get to decide what’s next! In addition to healthy choices, there are always opportunities for straight up fun in and around Denver. This weekend is no disappointment in the fun category!
For the past month I’ve been enjoying classes at Samadhi Yoga. They have studios in Uptown and Golden Triangle and a variety of classes. I’m not into high-intensity workouts and so I do yoga to stretch and relax and feel good. With their 30 day introductory deal, I’ve tried to take as many classes as would fit into my schedule. I’ve really enjoyed the classes that I’ve taken including Restorative, Reiki Restorative, Candlelight Vinyasa, Gentle Vinyasa, Neurosculpting Vinyasa, and Flow and Restore. Before this I hadn’t taken a yoga class in years. I’ve always appreciated the convenience of yoga videos and podcasts but it was so nice to be surrounded by other people with similar intentions of doing something healthy for themselves.
Now that my trial month is up, I’m left with “What next?”. Of course, I could buy a class pass at Samadhi (and I probably will at some point) but there are so many yoga studios in Denver that I may as well explore all my options! I’ve heard wonderful things about Whole Yoga and I like that their classes include a meditative aspect. Kindness Yoga has a bunch of locations and when I looked at their upcoming workshops, I want to take just about every one! I also know friends who are loyal to The River and Karma. In addition to these amazing yoga studios there are some unique studios. Classes at Rino Yoga Social are instructor-based rather than class-based. The Beat solely bases their schedules on special events like Mimosas, Manicures and Yoga; Kids Trolls Yoga; Solar Eclipse Essence Flow; and Hip Hop Yoga.
I’ve mentioned how much I love the creative opportunities here in Denver. One of the reasons is markets like the Denver Handmade Homemade Market. If you haven’t checked out this market yet, what are you waiting for? The market is hosted in HaHo’s new space, The Spindle. This unique market not only allows artists to showcase their creative products at markets but they also have creative workspace options as well as a commissary kitchen. Be sure to shop this market Saturday from 4pm-9pm and pick up all things fabulous like festival jewelry, statement pieces and yummy treats!
Bikes, Music and More
The annual bike event that ends in downtown Denver and causes plenty of excitement combines this year with a music festival and the Denver Flea into a three day event beginning today called Velorama. The Colorado Classic is a pro bike race covering Colorado Springs and Breckinridge ending in the RiNo neighborhood of Denver. The music festival features headliners Wilco and Deathcab for Cutie as well as the New Pornographers, Saint Motel and several other bands. The Denver Flea is not your typical Flea market by any means. It includes local vendors, bars and food trucks.
With all this excitement you’re going to need a yoga class or two in the upcoming week to bring you back into the flow of normal life!
